As the name suggests, the Jozankei View Hotel is surrounded by wonderful scenery, and from its elevated position offers beautiful views in all directions as far as the eye can see. The surrounding scenery changes color and tone in a delightful pattern throughout the year. This has inspired the hotel to hold its own “4 seasons photo competition” in which entrants are invited to submit photos showing the hotel and its scenery in any one of its 4 seasonal colors. A free shuttle bus operates between Sapporo and the hotel everyday!
The hotel is on the large side, with 647 rooms, spread throughout the main building, and an annex building built more recently. Rooms are varied in styles and sizes, with all sorts on offer including Japanese, Japanese/Western, Western-style rooms, as well as Corner and Special Suites.
There are a number of public bathing facilities, with water sourced from Jozankei Onsen situated within the hotel itself. There is even a 24 hour bath – but be careful not to slip in the dark though! For those who can’t bear to tear their eyes from the scenery, there is a bath with a view on the 16th floor and also seperate male and female outdoor baths.
Uraraka, Japanese Restaurant
For the culinary inclined, 2 buffet restaurants can be found on the premises. Grand Chariot is located on the 1st floor of the new building, offering a Western-style buffet. Head to the 3rd floor of the main building to try out the Japanese restaurant Uraraka. For those wanting to relax over a nice cup of tea or coffee, take a trip to the “Sun River” lounge .
Of course, the main attraction of the Jozankei View Hotel is its pool – the Lagoon Water Kingdom complete with a wave pool and rubber ring slides. For visitors coming with children, this is most welcome. Kids will love the brand new pirate ship climbing section where they can enjoy firing water guns, climbing the mast and various waterslides. Even small children can wile away their time happily in the Kids Pool or Kids Plaza, where they can enjoy the more peaceful swings and see-saws. Meanwhile, parents can take some well-earned rest relaxing in the jacuzzi or “bed bath”.
