What is RYOKAN?
Ryokan is Japanese-style inn, having two type of rooms; one with only Japanese room spread with Tatami mat and another combining a Japanese room and western-style beds. The charge usually includes a room and two meals, dinner & breakfast. The charge varies in accordance with number of guests in a room, more guests in a room, less charge.
Ryokan is an ideal place to experience traditional Japanese atmosphere. Sleeping on Futon placed over the Tatami mat, wearing Yukata robe, and soaking in a large bathtub would sure be a wonderful and unforgettable memory of your trip to Japan.
Okami
Landlady who takes a role of general manager, specialized in service and hospitality.
Tatami
Flooring material made of straw made from dried rice stalks. The number of mats used in a room shows the floor space of the room.
Yukata
Lounge wear in casual cotton kimono style.
Futon
Japanese style bedding set, usually consists of mattress, sheet, thick quilt type cover, pillow, and some times blanket as well. Futon sets are prepared by maids after dinner.
Furo (Dai-yokujoh)
Communal bath, generally gender-segregated. Facilities are luxurious and spacious enough for your relaxation.
Rotenburo
Open air bath. Enjoy beautiful landscape and seasonal charms of Japan.
